The ancient language of the bible is clear that the Creator of the universe has appointed that the voice of the local church is to be masculine, and that biblically qualified masculine.
This does not mean that churches are not compassionate, caring, emotional, or understanding, it is to mean that the church of the Living God is to be lead by, biblically qualified, men; not women, not women who identify as men, not men confused about God.
There is a rise of popularity in this western day that wants to soften the office of the pastor of the Lord’s church. This is not just something that is growing in popularity among the charismatics, this is growing in popularity among Baptists, and among the historic conservative Southern Baptists, my kinsmen.
From this side of what is showing itself to be a line in the sand. It’s one thing for the president of the United States to (foolishly) appoint Paula White as a spiritual adviser or pastoral voice, it is another thing for the J.D. Greear, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Russel Moore, president of the Ethics Religious Liberty Commission, endorse Beth Moore who continues to question the sufficiency of Scripture in matters to life and holiness.
Where there may have been a day when Beth Moore’s teaching was welcome and sought after as a good resource for women’s ministry bible studies in this church, I have not endorsed Beth Moore’s resources for several years and will continue to express concern to all women in this church who want to use her resources.
I stand in agreement with recent concerns expressed by Tom Ascol, Jeff Noblit, John McArthur and Phil Johnson.
For me, this is a serious day for Southern Baptists. This is as serious of a day as the day when our fathers fought the fight to reclaim our denomination to the inerrancy of Scripture. The fight today is for the sufficiency of Scripture.
